The Appreciation Game–How To Feel Better RIGHT NOW

Friday, August 20th, 2010

250674118 8a292861b0 262x300 The Appreciation Game How To Feel Better RIGHT NOWWhen a whole lot of yucky things are going on in your life and you’ve sunk to the bottom of the emotional scale and you know you’re out of alignment with what you want, what can you do to feel better right this minute?

Abraham-Hicks teaches many processes that can help improve your emotional set point and thus your alignment, but sometimes things can get so overwhelming that it’s tough to summon up the oomph to do any of the processes.  Sometimes, visualizing and journaling and whatever else is just too much trouble.  And remember, if it doesn’t feel good, it’s not helping.

So what can you do when you feel this bad?

What Are You Looking At?

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

50257242 d2cf4beee6 200x300 What Are You Looking At?Tim and I are in our car.  He’s driving. I’m gazing out the passenger side window.

Tim says, “Is he any good?”

“What?” I ask.

I have no idea what he’s talking about.  We haven’t been having a conversation.  We’ve been riding in silence.

“Is he any good?” Tim repeats as if hearing the question again will clear it up for me.

“Is who any good?”

“Him,” Tim waves a hand toward the windshield.

“What?  Who?” I look directly in front of the car for some invisible “him” I’m supposed to evaluate.

“The sign.” Tim waves a hand toward the windshield again.

My gaze extends further ahead.  I see a banner hanging across the road. It announces Clint Black’s upcoming performance at a nearby casino.

“Clint Black?” I ask.

Tim nods.

I give him my opinion of Clint Black, for what it’s worth, and I ask him what made him think I would have any idea what he was talking about.  He says, “I figured you were looking at what I was looking at.”

DA DUM! Did you hear that big orchestral crescendo that denotes something important? (more…)

Law of Attraction Is Kid Stuff

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Ducky and daddy with caption 223x300 Law of Attraction Is Kid StuffDucky turns one year old in a week.  Hard to believe.  I can still close my eyes and feel that warm little ball of wiggles I held in my arms when we brought her home last October.  Tim says he vaguely remembers being able to carry her around.  She’s now almost 45 pounds of mostly spring-generated muscle.

Since Ducky is my greatest and most consistent source of joy (she’s sort of like a cannon that shoots me into the Vortex), I decided to spend a couple bucks for the props to stage a good Ducky birthday picture for The Joyful Springer (it will be on the site on the 24th).   So a few days ago, Tim and I stopped in Wal-mart to get a birthday hat and balloon. Carving Out Something New

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

3730465178 e41aff2edd 300x199 Carving Out Something NewA few days ago, Tim and I met with an attorney and provided him with all the paperwork and information he needs to prepare to file my Chapter 7 bankruptcy.  Before that appointment, I had about three weeks to get used to the idea that last year at this time, I thought I had more than $50,000 in the bank and no balances running on my credit cards and now here I am filing bankruptcy because of something dumb that my own husband did, something that ran up all my cards and ran down the bank account.

I realize now that I’ve spent the last ten months in shock.  When you think you’re trucking along doing just fine and then you get gobsmacked with a “what is” reality that seems to have erupted from the ground beneath your feet like a malevolent alien, shock is a reasonable response, for sure.  But it’s not all that helpful to stay stuck in shock for a long time. Shock isn’t exactly a positive vibration. (more…)

Hitting The High Notes

Friday, June 25th, 2010

2952959460 e8db82296a 225x300 Hitting The High NotesSo there’s this Vortex, to use Abraham-Hicks terminology.  It’s an extraordinary font of energy—organized, creational energy that holds everything asked for by everyone.

I think of the Vortex as a sort of energy clearinghouse where everything that’s asked for is given, where every request is put into place in a cooperative way for the good of all who are asking.  EVERYTHING asked for, from a better tasting toothpaste to the vastest monetary fortune imaginable, is given in the Vortex.

Obviously, the Vortex is the place to be.

And how do we get there? (more…)

It’s Not All the Same To Me

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

I know the law of attraction is one of the energetic laws that bring order to the universe.  I don’t believe it.  I know it.

Even though I know it, however, I have doubts.

These doubts aren’t about the existence of the law of attraction. They’re about my understanding of how to think and feel in a way that makes the law of attraction a positive force in my life instead of a negative one.

The basics of law of attraction’s impact on us are simple:

1.     Think thoughts that match up vibrationally with what you desire.

2.     The better a thought feels to you, the better it matches up with things you want.

Simple … but at least for me, it’s the most difficult thing I’ve ever attempted to learn how to do. (more…)

It’s Enough

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

English springer spaniel fill your bowl 281x300 It’s EnoughThe other day, my mother brought me the May 23 newspaper comics page so she could show me Classic Peanuts (I don’t subscribe to the paper).  In the strip, Snoopy sits in front of his dog bowl, his tongue hanging out.  He’s thinking, “Empty! And I’m dying of thirst.”

In the next frame, Snoopy carries his bowl in his mouth.  In the third frame, he sits in front of an outdoor faucet, his bowl in his mouth, holding it positioned under the faucet.  The next frame is identical.  The next frame, he looks away from the faucet with a worried expression.  In the next frame, he’s back to staring at the faucet, patiently holding his dish beneath it.

In the next frame, rain starts to fall.  In the next, the rain is heaver.  Snoopy still holds his bowl under the faucet.

In the next frame, he carries his bowl through the rain.  In the next frame, he drinks water from the bowl.  In the next frame, the rain stops, and he sits back.

In the final frame, he lies on top of his doghouse thinking, “That’s one I’m going to have to think about for awhile.”

Unlike Snoopy, I didn’t have to think about it for awhile.  I got it immediately.  It was the guidance I’ve been wanting.  Thank you, law of attraction. (more…)

The Feeling, The Feeling, The Feeling

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

297237720 ba2240808f 300x155 The Feeling, The Feeling, The FeelingLately, I’ve had to turn this into a mantra:  “The feeling, the feeling, the feeling.  Focus on the feeling.”

When you’re finding reasons to feel good or looking for ways to feel like you already have what you want, either by using track changes or other visualizing methods, it’s ever so tempting to look for results.

We all love law of attraction results.  We love to hear those stories about how someone thought about something incredible and got it.  And of course, we all love to experience those results.

Almost daily, I remind myself that I manifested my husband.  I like remembering that I have the ability to deliberately flow vibrational energy toward a specific result and have the result appear in my life.

I’m discovering, however, because of a spate of unpleasant events recently, that too much focus on results can knock you off the alignment track.  (more…)

The Small Stuff Matters

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

4126708151 388410c0a1 199x300 The Small Stuff MattersMany years ago, I dated a man who was chronically late.  And I don’t mean just a little late.  He lived in Seattle, and when he’d come to my home for a visit, he usually arrived one to two hours later than he said he would.

I wasn’t all that pleased about this, and I told him so.  I was especially annoyed when he offered up excuses like, “I had to clean my vegetable bin before I left.”

In response to my displeasure, my soon to be ex-boyfriend, gave me the book, Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff, by Richard Carlson.  Over 100 weeks on the bestseller’s list, this little volume was full of great, down-to-earth advice on how to let go of the little stresses of life, but it didn’t make me feel any better about my boyfriend’s tardiness.

The message I got from the book and from my boyfriend was, “Don’t do anything about the little annoyances of life. The small stuff doesn’t matter.”

In some respects, this is a good message, one that helps with alignment.  Certainly, complaining and noticing all the little things that are “wrong” in the world don’t activate a vibration that draws wonderful experiences into our lives.  But making ourselves be okay with all the little stuff that we don’t like isn’t the way to go about aligning.  It’s the smiley face vs. the rodeo clown.  Trying to convince yourself that you feel good about something you don’t feel good about is a waste of time. Two Steps To Great Decisions

Monday, May 24th, 2010

4616993906 5d76fc1396 150x150 Two Steps To Great DecisionsI love watching the law of attraction in action.  I’ve been thinking a lot in the last couple weeks about decisions I need to make.  So what have I received?  Several e-mails from people who are making decisions and want my input.

I appreciate those e-mails. Answering those e-mails was just what I needed to make my own decisions.  Every time I answered one of those e-mails, I was reminded of the foolproof two-step way of making great decisions. (more…)
