Fun, Fun, Fun

Ducky In Her Play Bow
Today’s post comes under the heading of “Yes, I KNOW this,” but I think it also comes under the heading of “I can’t have too many reminders.”
When it comes to finding ways to improve our vibrational alignment so law of attraction will deliver pleasurable and wanted experiences into our lives, the methods and techniques are endless. We can
- Visualize
- “Write right“
- Create manifestation boards
- Pivot off negative thoughts
- Do an “about face”
- Talk about what we want
- Act as if we have what we want
- And a whole lot of other “techniques” we can pay hundreds of dollars for if we’re inclined to invest in all the law of attraction books, CDs, and workshops available online and off.
Or we can reach vibrational alignment the easy way.
We can have fun.
All of those techniques I listed, and most other law of attraction “systems” or “exercises” or “practices,” are intended for one important purpose—to create a positive vibration. What could be a more positive vibration than fun?
Stairway To Fun
Obviously, having fun is good for us. But we can’t play all the time. We have things we need to do.
I am the Princess of Play. I own something like a hundred plush animals (it used to be more—I donated a bunch to hospitals). I quote Winnie the Pooh. I love flipping a Slinky back and forth or tossing around a yellow Smiley Face ball when I’m thinking. To relax, I blow bubbles off my back porch. I give goofy personality to our furniture, our food, our cars—I anthropomorphize pretty much everything. Tim and I play lots of board games. We joke and tease constantly, and we make all sorts of playful bets. And then there’s Ducky—my always-ready-for-fun, canine playmate. I love to play silly games with her.
But, I’ve always worked this play in and around the serious stuff. And if the serious stuff gets overwhelming, as it has for me lately, my playtime is diminished.
See, I understand that to have something I need to already have it. So I know I need to find ways to take on the identity of a financial secure, successful, healthy, slender woman NOW. And I know I need to do what is before me to do.
At the moment, most of what is before me to do doesn’t, at first glance, seem to have much of a fun factor. Bankruptcy and everything that is involved with it, for instance, isn’t fun. It’s more of a humiliating chore than anything resembling play.
BUT, with a little ingenuity, pretty much anything can be shifted from chore to fun.
Here’s proof (video courtesy of my friend, Nancy—thanks, Nancy!):
Fast Tube by Casper
It makes you want to install scales under the flooring in your house, doesn’t it?
It does me.
And more than that, this video made me start thinking about how I can turn things I currently consider an unpleasant chore or responsibility into something fun.
It spurred me to begin making one of the driving questions in my day: How can I turn this into more play than work?
Sometimes, the question can be answered easily. When I’m doing work on the computer, for instance, I reward myself with the occasional tweets on Ducky’s Twitter account. “Yapping” with Ducky’s “anipals” as if she’s actually doing the typing (don’t tell her she isn’t—I’m pretty sure she thinks she’s the one online) is great fun, and it breaks up other more mundane tasks.
Sometimes, the question takes a bit more thought.
For the bankruptcy process, for example, I was having trouble finding ways to view filling out all the paperwork, listing all our assets and debts etc., as play. But then Tim suggested we use each asset listed as a jumping off point to thinking about what we would like instead. So we put on the list, 20-year old shelves, and Tim says, “I’m going to have so much fun building the custom shelves for the offices in our new house.” Or we list, five dog beds, and I tell Tim a memory I have of how much our last dog, Muggins, loved a particular bed. Using the list as a sort of seeding for fun conversation made the process more like play than work.
I’m finding that if you make it a dominant intention, you really can find ways to turn even the most arduous-seeming chores into something more playful and fun. Doing this creates a win-win. Not only does having more fun improve your vibration so you attract more good things into your life, it also brings you more pleasure NOW because you can’t help but enjoy your days more if you’re integrating play into your work.
We get a match to what we’re looking at and what we’re looking for. I’m finding that when I make it a priority to look for fun, ways to have more fun easily come to me.
How about it? Wanna play?

You will feel better when you finish the bankruptcy. I did.

Thanks, Cindy. I appreciate your sharing that. I’m feeling pretty darn pleased with myself that I’m finding ways to feel better now, in the midst of it.
So I’m REALLY excited that I’ll feel even better when it’s done.

Hey Ande,
What works for me is that I take some time in the morning before my day starts to envision the fun and to feel the fun that I will have that day at my desk or out on the road and then I forget about it. Amazing how God brings fun into my day from the previous alignment. What’s great is realizing it when it happens throughout the day.

I do something similar to that too, Greg. I envision my fun day while I also enjoy the fun of walking Ducky on the beach. But I find I also feel better if I look for fun throughout the day too.

OK, since I provided the video, I guess I have to jump on the “fun wagon.” My fun starts each week day with a 30-mile commute to the Quinault Indian Reservation. Although 30 miles is quite a long commute, I must confess that although the drive is a bit slow and curvy, it is along the coastal highway through amazing giant spruce trees, and with a view of the ocean that most would die for. If one has to commute 30 miles, it is tons of fun in my little red car “zooming” through the curves and watching the trees and ocean. Once I arrive at the office, I’m ready for more fun to start! Thank you, Ande, for reminding me of the positive elements.

Well done, Nancy! You DO have a gorgeous commute, and I know you love to drive that cute little red car. Way to find the positive aspects.

Excellent reminder, Ande. Here’s an Abe quote that I shared at our last meeting, and folks loved it:
“Reduce your workload by 30% and increase your fun load by 30%, and you will increase your revenue by 100%. And you will increase your productivity by 10,000% (if there could be such a percentage). More fun, less struggle=more results on all fronts. (2009)

Well, hm. I like the sound of the quote, and I wish my experience bore it out. I have done the first two parts over the last two years, and I have yet to experience that third part–the increase in revenue. I can attest that the increase in productivity is true. When I’m pushing through a writing project, it can take an hour to write a couple pages. When I’m writing from an inspired place, feeling the fun of the words and the project, I write 40 plus pages a day. Fun creates a groove that makes productivity a breeze. Now for the revenue ………

Keep on keepin’ on. You’ll be out of that consarned Yuma soon.
I posted today’s article on the Abraham Fun site, and Kaspar Dividian wrote an appreciative response.

Oh, I LOVE this!!! I want stairs that do this. I do bubbles too, and play with the dog, and laugh for no reason (check out laughter yoga on Youtube), a big thing for me is music and dancing. I used to hate doing my accounts, but now I put my favourite music playlist on and sing, dance and generally enjoy my way through my accounts! As well as asking how I can make each task/day more fun, I ask how I can make it easier too…I love some ease! Yay, more fun stuff Ande (I need reminding, ridiculously! In fact, if I want a laugh, I just need to think about how DIFFICULT I make life for myself sometimes, forgetting it’s all a game and a laugh.) xx

I think you and I would have a lot of fun together with our dogs and bubbles, Donna.
I use singing and dancing too. Thanks for telling me about laughter yoga. I just looked at one video, but I’m going to watch another. Fun!

Ande,
Maybe your revenue part is right around the corner. I know it took more than two years for mine to happen. Going backwards is also going forwards but just we never know it at the time its happening. Good luck with the writing.

Thanks, Greg!

Yay! Dogs, bubbles, dancing, laughter and singing! Sounds like a partay! xxx
