She Won The Lottery On Purpose

4565028092 9dbb98d408 300x225 She Won The Lottery On PurposeCynthia Stafford was a single mother raising five kids, a woman who’s life wasn’t what she wanted, but who believed in the power of her mind.  Her favorite author of books on that subject was Divine Science minister, Joseph Murphy.  Murphy teaches self-healing and manifestation through the power of visualization and focused thought and feeling.  Stafford followed Murphy’s teachings.  She decided she wanted to win $112 million.  Heeding Murphy’s advice, she wrote the figure “$112 million” over and over.  She meditated on it.  She imagined how excited she would be once the money finally came into her life.

Four months of obsessive focus later, she stopped and let go. “Once you’re in the flow of the energy,” she says, “it’s going to happen.”  In May 2007, Stafford won $112 million in California’s Megamillions lottery.

True story.

I’ve never read Dr. Murphy’s writings, but from quotes I’ve seen, his ideas are similar to those of Abraham and many other mind-power writers.  Dr. Murphy says the healing presence of God is within each one of us and with focused direction, it can heal the mind, body, and life situations of “all disease and impediments.”

Here are his steps for tapping into this energy:

  1. Don’t be afraid of “the manifest condition,” i.e., accept what is
  2. Realize all current conditions are only the product of past thinking
  3. Celebrate the power of God (nonphysical energy) that lies within you, i.e. own that power

Dr. Murphy says, “Live in the embodiment of your desire, and your thought and feeling will soon be made manifest.”

Abraham says you have to feel as if you have the thing that you want to have.  You must be it before you can become it or have it.  Since we want what we want because it will make us happy, we must be happy now if we want to get what we want.

Cynthia Stafford is the shining example that odds don’t mean anything.  Your intention is what matters.  What do you intend today?

I intend, as I have since Sunday, to find reasons to feel good.

Note:  I am now writing and sharing videos about manifesting our desires at Up From Splat, my new blog I would love for you to join the fun on that site!

Very cool story and great tips. Makes a person feel good reading this. ;-)

Doesn’t it though? Of course, anything is possible, but it’s always nice to have someone prove that it is. Remember Roger Banister–he broke the 4 minute mile barrier when everyone said no man could run that fast. Within a year after he did it, dozens more had done it. They just needed someone to show them it could be done. :)

If you watch the recent interview of Cynthia Stafford on The Bonnie Hunt show it sounds as if she said that she started visualizing money 2 Years prior to winning her big jackpot. I know I’ve tried for a while now to do the same thing and if it took her two years then I’m starting to understand why my 6 months of visualizations have so far not netted me anything… I need to find her story on the show “How the Lottery changed my life” because it seems that all the different stories on the internet have different timelines of how long it took her to manifest her desires and I like that episode. So, was it 2 or 4 months or 2 years?

  5. Ande Says:

Thank you for your comment, Paulina. I haven’t seen the Bonnie Hunt interview, but I did see the Stafford segment on “How the Lottery Changed My Life.” In that segment, she doesn’t give a time line. The thing to remember about time lines, though, is that time is illusory anyway. It’s all a matter of perception, and it’s only our perception that things take time that makes it so. Yes, that sounds very woo woo, and most of us will stay stuck in time because that’s our reference, but I’m drawing from Einstein here, so I stand on pretty solid ground. It serves us to ignore now long it took someone else to do something. For example, I know women who have visualized their desired mate for 20 years and still haven’t found him. I set an intention for mine and five months later, he was living with me. Some people can manifest money overnight, some will visualize it for 50 years and never get it. It’s a matter of vibrational alignment, not time. When we can purely and completely release resistance, i.e., the focus on the lack of something, it can come very fast. I haven’t achieved those results on the money front, but I have in other areas of my life, so obviously I still have resistance about money. ;) I like Cynthia’s story because of the focus and belief she had. Of course, we can’t know her vibration, so we don’t know how that played into the mix.

It didn’t take Cynthia Stafford 2 years she said she visualized from January 2007 to May 2007 in this new article http://www.parade.com/news/2011/01/16-the-112-million-dollar-woman.html

  15. hihihi Says:

Also Paula most important thing Cynthia Stafford had said:
“Lottery winner Cynthia Stafford knew that she could heal the thinking that had her struggling in today’s economy under hardship conditions. She began an active plan of working on her inner self and a daily spiritual practice including reading. Dr. Joseph Murphy’s books are not about making money, they are about thinking in accord with accepting the fullness of what the Universe offers you every day. The lottery win was simply one expression of that. Stafford wants you to know that you, too, can win the lottery. “Even if it seems that nothing is going your way, in regards to your goals, you are going to reach them,” she says. “Have strong beliefs. Everything you wish to have will happen.”

The last sentence is the most important part.

Do no focus on the lack of in your intention appreciate what you have now.

  16. Ande Says:

Thank you for your comments, Hihihi. Very helpful points! I totally agree with you.

  17. Bebai Rosa Says:

I have read books by the famed Deepak Chopra and Joseph Murphy. One thing that worked for me was to prepare a scrapbook. As you gather your thoughts about what you want to accomplish, actively put things together. If you want a new car. Cut the picture out of a magazine and place it in the scrapbook. Look at it every night and imagine it sitting in your driveway, feel how it handles on the road. See yourself at the dealership.
I did this and in about 4 months, I purchased a year old Chrysler Sebring. I enjoy it very much. Also I would like to add that the picture that I placed in my scrapbook was a 2010 Mercedes. Maybe I went wrong somewhere in my technique (smile) nevertheless I am very pleased to have the Chrysler Sebring and its gorgeous.

Best wishes to each one of you.

    Bebai Rosa.

  18. Charles Says:

To improve my focus when I visualize, I borrow an idea from a memory system I read about.

Let’s use the $112,000,000 figure as an example. Visualize each number from left to right in the following way:

    A. 1(see it encased in ice), 1(encased in ice), 2(encased in ice) etc….
    B. 1(see it in flames), 1(in flames), 2(in flames) etc…
    C. 1(see it pulsating violently), 1(pulsating violently), 2(pulsating violently) etc…

Do this for each number including the commas and all six zeros. Then do this for each letter of your first and last name along with the phrase Pay to the Order Of…Your Name. Then do this for, say, California(or wherever you live) lottery. Finally, do this for an exact date. E.g., August 01, 2011.

I think most of us were never taught to concentrate to the intensity and frequency manifestation requires. Nearly all books(Murphy’s included) just blithely tell us to “visualize” the end result, never giving us a hint how to practice focusing at the intensity required. This little routine I’ve designed for myself never fails to give me a great-feeling emotional high because at some level I know and FEEL that this level of focus has cut through all my random thoughts and deeply penetrated my subconscious.

That’s what is required to make things happen.

  19. Netty Says:

I asked for some further motivation and just stumbled across this website. Thank you. I’ll keep going. Big hug from Ireland

  20. Ande Says:

And a hug back to you, Netty. I’m glad you found what you needed at just the right time!
